Meet the Storyteller: Josie Bailey
The Wren's Nest wouldn’t exist without stories. They're at the heart of our history and mission. For decades, our museum has presented a weekly storytelling hour on Saturdays, allowing visitors to hear the Brer Rabbit tales and other traditional folktales in the spirit of their original form. Our storytellers are talented performing artists who each bring a unique style to their craft.
This month, we’re spotlighting storyteller Josie Bailey!
Here are five fun facts about Josie:
After working in the corporate world for most of her adult life, Josie discovered her true calling as a performer twenty years ago while volunteering as a story reader at her son's school.
She shares her talents all sorts of places, including festivals, museums, schools, libraries, senior centers, reunions, anniversaries and weddings, church events, and business/professional meetings across the Southeast
Josie is a member of Kuumba Storytellers of Georgia, Laughter Yoga International, and is DBE certified.
She was included in Owl's Tree Bookstore/Bellsouth Family Communications Project which appeared on WSB-TV and WCGL-TV.
Josie takes her audience through an educational adventure as she tells the tales of Aesop, Uncle Remus, Anansi, and others. Her stories often reflect her African-American roots and a bit of history.
Big thanks to Josie for performances that reach, inspire, and entertain. We're grateful for your captivating performances and can't wait for more! To learn more about Josie, visit josiebailey.com.
